A New Way to Shoot Photos: The Camera Control Button

Photographers know you can press the volume button to take a photo. It doesn’t work well. When you hold the phone like a point and shoot camera, this puts the lens where it’s easily blocked on the lower left-hand side.
Camera Control, an advanced physical button with built-in force and touch sensors, fixes that. When you take a photo, a vibration motor clicks so it feels like pressing a two-stage camera shutter button — just like a point and shoot. To use Camera Control, press the button to open the camera app, double press it to bring up a set of controls. To adjust the controls, slide your fingers back and forth like a tiny trackpad. You can change settings like depth of field, exposure, zoom, or photographic styles — which gets a big upgrade. You can now edit styles after you’ve taken a photo, meaning iPhone 16 has a new way of processing photos. Instead of applying a filter to an entire photo, edits adjust specific colors within different styles. We’ll get more attractive skin tones.

Enabling better action photos and cinematic slow motion (4k video at 120 frames per second).
A Few Words About Apple Intelligence
Apple Intelligence might change the way we use an iPhone, by helping us engage the world visually, summarizing media in more personal and productive ways, and maybe we’ll finally want to use Siri. The most important thing to know is Apple Intelligence won’t be available to everyone, in the same way, at the same time. In October, Apple rolls out a beta in U.S. English, and support for other languages like Chinese, French, Japanese, and Spanish is scheduled to come next year.
There’s still great reasons to get an iPhone 16. Artificial intelligence (or advanced intelligence) has already been optimizing what we do on phones. AI is already here, maybe not in the way it’s being marketed.

It’s like getting next year’s iPhone this year. Apple Intelligence relies on some design features of the new A18 chip, but it offers everything else we expect from a new chip. More speed, more efficiency. In the past, only the Pro got the latest chip. This year, every iPhone 16 is powered by an A18 chip -- it’s a two generation leap. The Pro phones are equipped with the A18 Pro chip, a turbo version that’s a little more performant for video recording.
Geekbench 6 Performance across iPhone 16 and 15 Lineup
Single-core performance describes how well the phone performs at basic tasks like web browsing. Multi-core performance is more important for demanding applications like video editing and gaming.
